The Elm Club

E-mail Print PDF

Th Elm Club was started up in 1959: the founding members, as taken from minute books, being Mrs Nowell-Smith as Chairperson, Mrs Thomas as Deputy Chairperson, Mrs Woodrow as Treasurer, Miss Bennet as Secretary, Miss Machin and Mr McKinnell.  Their vision was for an opportunity for our senior villagers to meet up regularly.

Nowadays, we meet on the second Thursday of every month generally at 2.30pm in Ewelme Village Hall for a variety of events.  We arrange interesting talks from a wide range of speakers, an occasional quiz, perhaps a musical afternoon, sometimes a demonstration as well as the occasional outing.  Our village hall events are always followed by a delicious afternoon tea provided by the committee for a small fee of £3

Membership is open to all villagers (we also have a few members who come from outside the village) of 60 + years.  Annual subscriptions of £5 are renewed in March after a very short AGM.

Details of each meeting are on the village notice board and appear below on this website.

If you would like to join us, please contact one of the committee members (see the list below for contact details).
